The 2002tii is the sharpest tool in the 02-series box - the car that took the everyman BMW 2002 and gave it the mechanical Kugelfischer fuel injection developed on the 2000tii and the motorsport program. “tii” stands for Touring International Injection: a 2.0-liter SOHC four making a genuine 130 horsepower, fed not by carburetors but by a precise, purely mechanical injection pump that rewards a shop who understands it and punishes one who doesn't.
In its day it was the fast, focused enthusiast's 2002; today it is the version collectors seek out and the one the auction room pays a premium for. Light, communicative, upright and honest, the tii is widely credited as the spiritual ancestor of the modern sport sedan - the car that pointed BMW toward the 3-Series and everything after. A correct, sorted, injected 1974 tii is not a car you find on every corner.

This is a mechanically-right, freshly-sorted 1974 BMW 2002tii finished in its factory-correct Arktisblau metallic (BMW code 045) - confirmed by the seller as the car's original color - over a tan interior of original specification, since reupholstered. The car has been resprayed in its own color, so what you see is the shade it left the factory wearing. It presents as an honest, usable driver: it photographs beautifully and drives like a tii should.
The engine is the heart of the car and it is the correct one - the 2.0L four with Kugelfischer mechanical injection, freshly serviced by a shop that knows the system intimately (see Service History). A period-flavored ANSA dual center-tip exhaust is fitted; it is tasteful, era-appropriate, and fully removable, and carries no penalty at this tier for a buyer who wants to return to stock.
One item is disclosed and sold as-is: a ruptured brake-booster diaphragm. The brakes function but require added pedal effort. The car sells AS-IS on this point but we have a quote from the shop on what it would take to fix.

This is a German-delivery car, with its original color confirmed. The original owner's manual, along with original and replacement parts, comes with the car and is on hand with the vehicle.
A note on the odometer: it reads 24,042, is inoperative, and does not advance - the units are unconfirmed and it has likely rolled over. A German-delivery car should read in kilometers rather than miles, which changes the interpretation. The car is offered as true-mileage-unknown, and at this level of the market that is not a disqualifier -several of the strongest recent sales were TMU cars.
